If there is one thing I love above all else in the makeup world- it is a palette. This year Urban Decay released some of my absolute favorites & the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Palettes are no exception. In fact- they’re some of my standout products of the year because not only are they a steal but they’re also incredibly travel friendly. They both make the perfect gift for a friend…& to you if you love lipstick. Keep reading to check out swatches & review of both palettes- the Urban Decay Blackmail + Junkie Vice Lipstick Palettes.
Experiment with this lipstick palette’s creamy lip shades—including five finishes from Urban Decay’s indulgent Vice Lipstick collection. The colors range from shimmery to matte, dark to light, and neutral to bright for every mood and occasion. Urban Decay’s proprietary Pigment Infusion System™ delivers powerful pigment in one small swipe. Its hydrating butter blend glides on and conditions without dragging or skipping, for lips that feel as good as they look. This palette’s travel-friendly case features a retractable lip brush, mirror, and cover to protect its wide array of shades.
The packaging here needs to be addressed here- because it is spectacular! I’ve always been pro-lipstick palettes but they have to be done right. & this is my absolute favorite so far. It doesn’t just have a plastic sleeve- it is a HARD plastic sleeve. It really protects the mirror without making it feel too bulky. The names are printed below each shade & NOT on the plastic which I am also super grateful for. Plus it comes with a retractable lip brush & decent sized mirror that are actually useful! I can’t sing the packaging praises enough! Below I’m going into each palette but know the packaging is identical. I actually wish they were a different color on the exterior so I can tell them a part though!
Urban Decay Junkie Vice Lipstick Palette- available at Sephora Online Exclusively
Shades include:
- Disturbed (deep brick red)
- 714 (bright red)
- Carnal (medium warm nude)
- Safe Word (neutral nude-pink)
- Studded (metallic gray-brown)
- Whip (soft pink with gold iridescent shimmer)
- Wrath (metallic red)
- Big Bang (bright pink sparkle)
- Firebird (deep fuchsia)
- Vanity Kills (lavender)
- Speedball (deep vibrant purple)
- Junkie (metallic teal shimmer with gold micro-sparkle)
The Junkie Palette is definitely the more bold of the two palettes! I’m in love with the fact that they included two purples- Vanity Kills & Speedball. I also love that they included Junkie since it is a Sephora-exclusive shade. Although it contains a wider range of shades than the Blackmail palette- don’t count this one out for neutrals. The top four shades to the right (Carnal, Safe Word, Studded, & Whip) are all excellent options.
Top row left to right: Disturbed (deep brick red), 714 (bright red), Carnal (medium warm nude), Safe Word (neutral nude-pink), Studded (metallic gray-brown), Whip (soft pink with gold iridescent shimmer)
Bottom row left to right: Wrath (metallic red), Big Bang (bright pink sparkle), Firebird (deep fuchsia), Vanity Kills (lavender), Speedball (deep vibrant purple), Junkie (metallic teal shimmer with gold micro-sparkle)
Urban Decay Blackmail Vice Lipstick Palette– available at ULTA, Macy’s, Nordstrom, , & UD
Shades include:
- Sheer Shame (Sheer) berry
- Firebird (Cream) deep fuchsia
- Big Bang (Metallized) bright pink sparkle
- Disobedient (Cream) medium pink
- EZ (Cream) bright red-orange
- 714 (Mega Matte) bright red
- Vanished (Sheer) pale neutral nude
- 1993 (Comfort Matte) medium brown
- Ex-Girlfriend (Sheer Shimmer) nude-rose with pink shimmer
- Amulet (Metallized) metallic brick rose
- Conspiracy (Metallized) plum-bronze shimmer
- Blackmail (Comfort Matte) deep berry wine
The Blackmail Palette is definitely more neutral- but still a lot of fun! Blackmail is one of my absolute favorite shades so I was excited to see it not only included- but in the name! This palette leans more warm & neutral but they also threw in two red options (EZ & 714) as well as the super-eye-catching Firebird & Big Bang. Conspiracy is also really interesting (& also pretty mixed!) because it is a metallic neutral.
Top row left to right: Sheer Shame (Sheer) berry, Firebird (Cream) deep fuchsia, Big Bang (Metallized) bright pink sparkle, Disobedient (Cream) medium pink, EZ (Cream) bright red-orange, 714 (Mega Matte) bright red
Bottom row left to right: Vanished (Sheer) pale neutral nude, 1993 (Comfort Matte) medium brown, Ex-Girlfriend (Sheer Shimmer) nude-rose with pink shimmer, Amulet (Metallized) metallic brick rose, Conspiracy (Metallized) plum-bronze shimmer, Blackmail (Comfort Matte) deep berry wine
Both palettes are an incredible value. If you break it down- each color is less than $3 & you get 12 to choose from in each palette. If you’ve been wanting one shade in either palette- the full size retails for $17. Since each palette retails for $35 (which I think is an incredibly good deal) you’d be paying about the same for 2 full-sized shades. I think it is really important to consider how you use lipsticks as well to decide if that is a great deal for you. Personally- I do some traveling & love the idea of having a palette of options. I also really like applying color with a lip brush. If you only want something to throw in your purse…this might not be a fit. But I still think you would love it! If you’re trying to decide between the two consider that Big Bang, Firebird, & 714 are in both palettes. The best part for me personally is that all of these lipsticks are available in full sizes in case you find one you absolutely want to have! My pet peeve is limited edition items I can’t purchase later on!!
You can purchase the Urban Decay Junkie Vice Lipstick Palette– available at Sephora Online Exclusively. The Urban Decay Blackmail Vice Lipstick Palette is available at ULTA, Macy’s, Nordstrom, & on the Urban Decay website. Both palettes retail for $35.
